Stability and reference interval of serum phosphoglucomutase (PGM)
Journal Title: Journal of Analytical Bio-Science - Year 2012, Vol 35, Issue 4
Abstract
We examined the stability and reference range of serum phosphoglucomutase (PGM) in healthy subjects. Serum obtained from venous blood was stored at -80℃ and 4℃, and the stability of PGM activity was evaluated by measuring the passage time for both samples. PGM activity was stable for 3 days after collection with storage at 4℃. It was stable for a long periods of time with storage at -80℃. PGM activity was measured using serum from 298 healthy adults (110 men and 187 women). There was a significant difference between men and women (p <0.001), and the distribution was log-normal. The reference range was 5.4 - 26.6 U/L in men and 4.8 - 20.3 U/L in women.

Evaluation of serum B-type natriuremic peptide (BNP) and plasma N-terminal pro-BNP(NT-proBNP) levels with heart failure in children
We have evaluated the NT-proBNP levels in serum and the BNP levels in plasma for heart failure (HF) among neonates and children. Both NT-proBNP and BNP levels for HF patients less than 5 years old were higher (NT-proBNP...
Current status of metrological traceability and measurement uncertainty in clinical laboratories
Standardization is the most important issue in laboratory medicine. ISO has established the metrological traceability in laboratory medicine as International Standard 17511. Many countries have studied standardization pr...
Clinical state of acute myocardial infarction with increased phosphoglucomutase activity: The relationship between phosphoglucomutase activity and acute thrombosis
Phosphoglucomutase (PGM) is a key enzyme in cellular glucose utilization and energy homeostasis. We previously found that patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) showed high PGM activity, especially those with ST...
Effect on Quality of Life of a Lentinus edodes mycelia-enriched diet (L・E・M®) in patients with terminal cancer
Purpose: It is important to offer the highest possible quality of life (QOL) for terminal cancer patients in palliative medicine. It was examined whether Lentinus edodes mycelia (L・E・M®) -containing diet (CORELEM®) was e...
