THE BIG PERSPECTIVE OF DARA KORNIY’S SHORT PROSE: MYTHOPOETIC ASPECT
Journal Title: Наукові праці. Серія "Філологія. Літературознавство" - Year 2016, Vol 271, Issue 259
Abstract
The psychology of art remains a controversial and poorly studied area of literary criticism. The intensive myth-making in Ukrainian literature of the XXI century is a harmonious component of global trends and is connected with the changing psychology of a new era writer. This article is created, thus, in the riverbed of actual literary issues. Its subject is the specifics of Dara Korniy’s transition from short prose genres to the novel and their relationship. This transition is important for the understanding of the author’s works logics, but remained unlighted, though the importance of some stories in the perspective of the writer’s creative activity is obvious. Multilevel comparative analysis of «The Muse cried» and Dara Korniy’s novels is carried on with the help of comparative, mythopoetic and hermeneutic methodology. The purpose of the article is to analyze this work for the first time as an artistic declaration with additional attention given to the key thematic and mythopoetic accents characteristic of the writer’s gender-oriented creative activity. The research proved Korniy’s departure from the classical mythological tradition to the combined self-created mythology; the representation of her heroine’s life as a confrontation within the context of both real and unreal worlds; the heroine’s liberation from the Patriarchal Canon and the longing for self-formation within her own world; the specific «winged» existence of the writer’s metaheroine. It is reasonable to use some ideas of this research in the further study of Korniy’s prose as a single text in the case of its internal logics deployment.
