Abstract

Modern business conditions, within the limits of effective management of the company, put forward the main requirements for corporate governance, namely, transparency and accountability, which forms the corporate social responsibility that is considered from the point of view of solving issues in the social sphere of the enterprise and beyond its borders at the municipal, regional, national, and global levels. The main principles of the effective implementation of corporate social responsibility in the enterprise of any sphere of management, including rail transport, include the level of remuneration, the provision of proper working conditions, safety and environmental compliance of all production processes, the spiritual and moral climate, corporate culture, social responsibility, etc. Social responsibility serves as an indicator of the efficiency and prospects of future development of the company, its aspiration to win its position in the market and be competitive. In general, social responsibility is regarded as a set of responsibilities of the company to society. Thus, the effectiveness of implementing corporate governance with a view to social responsibility is a complex process, especially when companies need to quickly adapt to a new form of management. It should also be noted that, in pursuing strategic goals and benchmarks, the railway industry should rely on staff as one of the important components of its effective functioning. Conditions of work and social climate in railway transport enterprises, its ideological beliefs, the existence of a spiritual system of values and standards in behaviour, norms and rules that are perceived by workers and have a direct influence on their behaviour – all these components form the culture of the organization. This leads to the need to implement the principles of social responsibility in corporate governance to ensure economic security, reduce atmospheric emissions, increase the speed and quality of delivery of goods and passengers, access to international markets, development of transit capacity and an increase of competitiveness, improvement of approaches to personnel management in the industry.
