THE INVESTIGATION OF SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS' ATTITUDES TOWARDS ITALIC HANDWRITING

Abstract

The aim of this research is to examine the attitudes of the secondary school students towards the italic handwriting in terms of various variables. In the study, a scanning model has been used as a research method. The study group consists of 640 secondary school students studying in different schools in Van. The Scale of Attitudes of Primary School Students Towards Italic Handwriting developed by Akcaalan, Arslan and Sicak (2015) hasbeen used as a data collection tool. SPSS package program has been used in the analysis of the data. As a result of the research, in some of the items on the scale, there have been significant differences between the answers given by female students and male students in favor of female students. Moreover, in the answers given to the scale items, there have been significant differences among the answers given by the 8th grade students most and then the answers given by 5th grade students and the answers given by the students studying in the other grades according to their class levels. It has been observed that the answers given by 8th graders to the italic handwriting have less average than the other grade levels. There have also been observed significant differences between the answers given by the students in the socio-economically advantageous group and the answers given by the students in the socio-economically disadvantaged group according to the school variables in the scale items.
