UKRAINIAN LEGISLATION IN THE FIELD OF INVESTIGATION OF MARITIME ACCIDENTS: THE NEED FOR ACTUALIZATION

Abstract
The article provides research of the procedure established in the international maritime law to investigate casualties at sea. An analysis of international conventions and resolutions of the International Maritime Organization which contain provisions requiring States to investigate a number of marine casualties has been carried out. The state of the relevant Ukrainian legislation is analyzed from the point of view of compliance with the norms of international law. It is substantiated that the legislation of Ukraine regulating the procedure for recording and investigating maritime accidents requires actualization in order to comply with modern international law standards adopted by IMO.
