Use of selected models of discrimination analysis in predicting the risk of bankruptcy of enterprises producing fodder

Abstract
Bankrupt firms pose a significant problem to the proper functioning of national economies. Thus, the prediction of bankruptcy, is becoming more and more important issue from an economic point of view. The aim of this study was to assess the financial situation of the selected companies producing feed, from the point of view of bankruptcy risk. Selected Polish models of discrimination analysis were used to assess the financial condition. The main criteria for selection of companies for testing were: the main area of business – production of animal feed (companies belonging to group 10.9 according to the PKD), legal status: limited liability company or joint stock company, which employs more than 50 people, and the availability of financial data. The research shows that there were two large companies in a good financial situation: Cargill Poland and De Heus. Assessment of the financial condition with the help of early-warning models for medium-sized companies was not clear.
