Venturing Beyond Domestic Walls - An Enquiry into the Role of Kudumbashree (Family Prosperity) Mission in Translating Women Entrepreneurial Passions into Profitable Micro Enterprises

Abstract
Kudumbashree, meaning the family’s prosperity, is a flagship program of the Government of Kerala, centered on woman empowerment. Through the operation of micro enterprises, Kudumbashree cherishes the expectation that asset management ability of the poor women will increase along with their income, financial inclusion, and social empowerment as well as leadership skills. Women empowerment can go a long way in building gender equality and social acceptance of labor in the community. The study revealed that changes in production, marketing, asset management and profitability problems leads to changes in performance positively while government support and empowerment issues affect performances negatively.
