Abstract
The given article focuses on Winston Churchill’s biographies. It defines the term ‘biography’, its peculiarities and biography genres. Winston Churchill’s biographies written by G. Best, M. Gilbert, R. Jenkins are widely discussed. Biography is defined as a form of nonfictional literature whose subject is the life of an individual.Biography develops a complex analysis of personality, highlighting different aspects of it and including intimate details of experiences. The structure of the biography usually presents b-e-m-a-d, whereb (born), e (educated), m (married), a (activity), d (died). But a biography is more than a list of impersonal facts like birth, education, work, relationships and death. It also dwells into the emotions of experiencing such events. It is important for a biographer to be sympathetic of his object. The biographer draws upon all available evidence, including that retained in memory as well as written, oral and pictorial material and creates positive image of the personality.
