An Analyse of Cultural Values in Managerial Aspect: The Case of Banking Sector

Abstract

The purpose of this article is, to analyze the affect of cultural values on social, demographic and economic factors of public and private bank workers from the aspect of management point of view. For this purpose the 21 items of cultural values survey (Portrait Values Questionnaire- PVQ) was used. The survey was carried out with 61 women, 67 men and totally 128 of workers of different bank workers of private and public banks from different cities out of an aimed sample of 200. The main aim of this research is to see the affect of the personnel values over cultural values and bring out a new approach to the previous studies of this subject. The results will also outline the cultural values from the aspect of one sector. The reason of choosing banking sector for this article is, the current changing and challenging properties of the sector and the outnumbered women workers of this sector comparing with the other sectors. In the research it was seen that, men have the benevolence, conformity and tradition values more than women have, while women give more importance to hedonism then men. Managers in banking sector give more importance to the power, achievement, tradition and conformity values comparing to the workers under their authority. On the other hand, workers in public sector have the tradition and conformity values more then private sector workers, while private ones give more importance to the power value.
