Determination of the emissions of dioxide of sulphur in the thermo electrical power plant “10 de octubre”

Abstract

This work is made out with the objective of determining the emissions of gases of the combustion to the environment in the "10 de Octubre" thermoelectric power station, of Nuevitas, Cuba. For this, the methodology for the determination of the volumes of gases from the elemental composition of the fuel is applied. The relationship between the generating power of the unit and the fuel flow is determined. With this relation and with a series of historical data, the descriptive statistics of the different variables influencing the emissions are determined, as well as the emission levels for different power values. The values of emissions of sulfur dioxide are compared with international standards showing that it is well above the norm, which brings with it serious environmental problems.
