ЕКСПЕРИМЕНТАЛЬНА ПЕРЕВІРКА ЕФЕКТИВНОСТІ МЕТОДИКИ ДИСТАНЦІЙНОГО НАВЧАННЯ МАЙБУТНІХ ПЕРЕКЛАДАЧІВ АУДІЮВАННЯ АНГЛІЙСЬКОЮ МОВОЮ

Abstract
Successful professional preparation of prospective interpreters to comprehend messages of different genres (announcement, interviews, lectures, the news) is possible due to the students’ abilities to listen and understand the audio texts of these genres. Taking into account the results of testing and surveys conducted in higher educational establishments, it should be stated that the distance learning students experience lack of supplementary modern resources aimed to develop listening comprehension skills. Prospective interpreters are supposed to know how to take notes, do reference reading by keywords, and make verbal decisions while listening to the audio messages. The abovementioned interpreting tasks can be easily achieved by using a free Open Source software package Moodle, aimed to provide prospective interpreters with a free access to the educational material at any moment. Organization and conducting experimental teaching via a learning management system Moodle is an effective way to check the effectiveness of distance learning methodology of teaching listening comprehension in English to prospective interpreters. Purpose. To present the stages of the methodological experiment which tested the efficiency of the distance learning methodology of teaching listening comprehension in English to prospective interpreters; to determine the more effective variant of the methodology. Methods. Studying and analyzing scientific publications, testing (pre- and post-), watchingthe training process in Moodle, methodological experiment, mathematical statistics methods to interpret the results of the experimental tests. Results. The article displays the methodological experiment organized in order to estimate the effectiveness of the distance learning methodology of teaching listening comprehension in English to prospective interpreters. The author analyses two suggested variants of the methodology and validates the efficiency of one of them. The results of the methodological experiment allow to state a rising level of listening comprehension ability of prospective interpreters to understand audio texts of different genres (announcements, interviews, lectures, the news). The students in both experimental groups have advanced significantly in comprehending all four types of listening: understanding for gist, understanding for detail, understanding attitude and identifying specific information. Conclusion. Scientific research has shown that the methodological experiment data confirmed with mathematical statistics allow to state that both experimental variants of the methodological experiment are efficient. However, the second variant of the developed methodology, which involves the prepared listening comprehension strategy memos, has been proven to have a higher effect.
