HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT OF IDEA OF LEGITIMACY OF THE GOVERNMENT IN STATE AND LEGAL TRADITION

Abstract
Article is devoted to the analysis of historical and legal conditions of formation and development of ideas of legitimacy of the government in state and legal thought. The etymology of the concept “legitimacy” is investigated. Historical devel- opment of idea of legitimacy of the government is analyzed. Doctrines of outstanding philosophers and jurists of Antiquity, Middle Ages and Modern Time are considered.
