Abstract

The article analyzes the activity of deputies from Carpathian Ruthenia in the Hungarian Parliament during the period of 1939–1944. The foundation of source base of the work is built on protocols of sessions of the Parliament, as well as materials of archives of Hungary, the Czech Republic and Russia. Speeches of deputies are examined through the prism of the official ideological course of «saint-stefanizm» and «Uhro-Ruthenianism». In addition, the article characterizes some attempts to criticize the national and cultural situation in the region (particularly in the areas of language and the school) from deputies with Russophile views. The deputy corps of Carpathian Ruthenia was a very inhomogeneous structure, in which there was a bitter struggle for the influence between Russophiles and adherents of the official rate of «Uhro-Ruthenianism», who were supported by the deputies - ethnic Hungarians. In addition, in the Russophilen camp there were contradictions between the most influential politicians of the region - A. Brodie and S. Fentsik. A lot of used in the article information is firstly introduced into academic circulation. As a result, this work can make a significant contribution to the study of ethno-cultural and social and political life of Carpathian Ruthenia.
