PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF FAA METHODOLOGY OF COMPOSITE SPECIMENS USED TO MATERIAL TESTS QUALIFICATIONS

Abstract
Test practical application of FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) methodology for composite samples preparation for material qualification testing was written in this article. Review of the literature was made to verify the FAA provisions in aspect of material qualification testing. Research has been done with a composite panel (30×56 cm, average thickness 3.187 mm). The article compares two methods used for composite panel surface preparation: sandblasting and grinding. During sandblasting tests, variable parameters was: time (30 s, 40 s and 50 s), pressure (3 bar and 3.5 bar), and the type of abrasive (glass microspheres and ceramic microspheres). This allowed to verify effects of various parameters on the quality of sandblasted surface, and to compare it with grinded areas.<br/><br/>
