STATUE WHICH COMES BACK TO LIFE AS MAGIC GRANTOR IN S. KRZHIZHANOVSKY’S STORY «KUNTS AND SHILLER»

Abstract

The aim of the article is to research S. Krzhizhanovsky’s story «Kunts and Shiller» in aspect of it’s mythopoetics. It helps to solve the problem of author’s conception of reality. In the spotlight of author of the article is motive of duality in the story. Twin of Schiller is his sculptural portrait. It brings the lost Shiller’s manuscript to the director of theatre Kunts. Therefore it’s function in the story is to be a grantor. Kunts’s twin is his shoe. A way of Kunts and of his thing is the same – senseless. This way ends with a defeat: Kunts forever throws away opportunity to get a manuscript and to become famous, and a shoe gets in a puddle. The roots of motive of duality (a person and it’s sculptural image in myth) and it’s place in literary work are studied in the article too. In the spotlight in the article are literary works of writers-contemporaries of S. Krzhizhanovsky: R. Akutagawa and A. Grin. Their comparison confirms actuality of opposition «dead – alive» for the literature of epoch of the beginning of ХХ century.
