THE PRINCIPLE OF GENDER EQUALITY: DOMESTIC EXPERIENCE AND INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS

Abstract
In the article the key aspects of a gender equality principle, both in Ukraine and abroad are considered. The scientific approaches to definition of the concept of gender equality are analyzed and the author's definition is proposed, the theoretical and legal problems of ensuring gender equality in society are elucidated. The European approach to definition of the concept of gender equality is researched. The mechanism of overcoming gender discrimination in society by reforming of legislative and educational information activities, which will gradually change the society attitude to the issue of parity between men and women, is proposed.
