Traditional Chinese medicine phenomics: data characteristics and prospect of research methods

Journal Title: Biomedical Transformation - Year 2022, Vol 3, Issue 3

Abstract

Human phenomics constructs the association of cross-scale-omics data, which is of great value to the realization of precision medicine. Both TCM and phenomics focus on the variation patterns of various phenotypes in the complex system of human body, and the concepts and techniques of both can promote and complement each other, and the study of TCM phenomics will help to realize the synergistic development and promotion of the integration of Chinese and Western medicine. This study first summarizes the existing data characteristics of TCM characteristic phenotypes, methods of phenotype collection and quantification, and then briefly describes the means of data processing, cross-scale correlation and fine regulation mechanisms of TCM phenotypes from the perspective of big data and artificial intelligence, and finally proposes the existing challenges and future research directions in order to provide reference for TCM phenomics researchers.
